Meet Tidewild, our biggest game yet

The project we've been teasing as HeroGear has a real name now: Tidewild, a 3D adventure RPG with an Arena. It's coming soon to Google Play and the App Store.

For months we’ve been saying “the big one is coming.” This is it. Tidewild: Adventure RPG & PvP is our flagship, coming soon to Google Play and the App Store.

If you’ve followed the devblog, you know it as HeroGear. That name came from the very first pitch, a small gear-driven RPG. The game outgrew it. It moved to Unity, went fully 3D, and turned into a whole island with a story, so it needed a name that fit. See the game page →

The pitch

Six elements kept the island in balance: fire, ice, lightning, wind, light and dark. Monsters stole every one. You wash up on the beach, Hero Joe meets you there, and you start winning them back one chapter at a time.

What’s in it

  • The Journey. A story campaign across one big, hand-built island, saved as you go. Each chapter is one element and one region, with a boss at the end: Embershore (fire), Death Woods (ice) and Stonewatch (lightning) are the first three, and more elements are on the way.
  • The Arena. A free-for-all PvP arena that opens at chapter 3, so you go in with the gear you earned.
  • No class picker. Your weapon is your role: swords, axes, spears and greatswords up close, bows at range, wands for magic. Swap the weapon and you change the fight.
  • Gear that matters. 114 pieces in four rarities, 16 armor sets with set bonuses, and a forge to push them further.
  • Elemental gems. Every element you win back becomes a gem. Imbue one into a weapon and it gets an elemental attack, a passive and a forged super ability.
  • Every kill counts. Camp monsters pay out small permanent stats, so farming the island shows on your hero.
  • Five languages at launch: English, Spanish, French, Korean and Russian.

When

Soon. It’s in testing on Google Play right now. The store buttons on the Tidewild page go live the day it launches, and we’ll post here too. If you want to talk about it before then, come to r/tidewild.
